David Maurette was born in France and spent the majority of his childhood in New Caledonia (a tropical island in the Pacific Ocean) before he moved back to France aged 10.

David always had a passion for music, but it was only when he was 16 his parents got him his first drum kit. A few years later he joined a metal band called "Shades of Syn" which he was a member of for 5 years. 

 

He then decided to move to Australia in Melbourne where he stayed for 3 years.

Living there opened up his taste for psy trance and electronic music whilst attending "doofs" parties, ultimately joining the crew responsible for running "Colour of Sound" psy trance events. 

 

He eventually left Australia to start a music career in London. Originally self-taught up until the age of 28, he did a diploma in music performance at BIMM London before becoming the main drummer in the pagan speed folk band called Perkelt. He toured extensively with them throughout UK and Europe until 2022, but at same

time in 2019 David was invited to join the renowned DJ/ producer KAYA PROJECT on percussion ,whom he still performs with.

 

In 2021,  he also joined Mista Trick Live, a dynamic and high energy swing and bass band. Whilst touring with the band for one year, he hit all the major UK  festivals throughout summer of 2022, such as Glastonbury, Wilderness, Shambala, Boomtown, and Beautiful Days.

 

Shortly before that in 2020, David begun to pursue one of his dreams and learned how to DJ. He then had an idea to experiment bringing drumming and live percussion while DJing, merging all his skills and passion for a wide range of musical genres into one offering. He quickly realized the potential of that project and decided to go solo.

A year after playing his first two festivals joined by Eliot Michael on percussion, he already managed to secure slots at renowned festivals like Glastonbury, Shambala, Love Jam and Anthropos.

In 2021 he also  joined the team of Head of House that organizes "MassKara" incredible tribal parties for the brand of rum Don Papa.  Events happen each time in a different European country.

David is currently investing more of his time in his solo project, refining his skills and honing in on his individual musical style. He is eager  to expand further in the next few years, seeking out collaborations and intent on learning how to produce his own music. Watch this space!
